Dance Week Teachers 2019

Carmen Waldec 

Carmen completed her Bachelor Degree in Dance Education in the Netherlands, majoring in classical Ballet and Jazz dance.


After teaching dance to various age groups in the Netherlands and Australia,  I've returned to Swakopmund and I am now teacher and owner of Dance Factory Swakomund.


Carmen will be teaching Broadway Jazz and Dance Fun for Kids during the Dance Week. Dance Fun is a fun class where young children learn about different dance styles and aspects of dance in a playful and creative way.


Andreea Brand


I am the founder of Coastal Fit Club Swakopmund, originary from Romania, living in Namibia from 9 years already, brought with me the passion for latino dancing and my love for Zumba® fitness program.


She is a mom of two beautifull kids, a wife, a business women and an energetic Zumba® fitness , Zumba toning ® and Zumba step ®  instructor.


McBreaton Pieters 


Mcbreaton is a Namibian based educator, choreographer, vocal artist, founder and owner of Fusion Funk Dance Studio, where he shares his passion for dance and theatre with his students. He is a dancer whose passion, integrity and professionalism characterise his works.

His studio combines many different dance styles of dance , including creative dance , Latin , Ballroom, Hip-Hop and others on a performance platform to build confidence and self esteem levels of our dancers.  

Mcbreaton received his Ballroom training from Dance Domain Namibia in 2012 and Contemporary from the College of the Arts. He is a natural hip-hop and break-dancer and has performed at many corporate events.

He has had a very diverse career varying from directing dance productions to directing theatre productions at the Helen or Grady Drama Academy.

I believes it’s important to provide the opportunity for dancers to pursue high quality training in dance, to educate others in the history of various dance techniques and unleash the full potential in all students,

He will be teaching, Fusion Funk & Latin Ballroom during the Dance Week.


Catrin Spaet


When I started a few years ago at The Dance Factory, I had a very passionate dance-teacher. She showed me the love for Zumba - for me a perfect dance fitness workout based on latin (my favorite) and international music. A great way to dance to the beat, have fun and do workout!


Daniel Kuhlmann


I am a passionate choreographer, dance teacher and dancer. I have achieved qualifications in dance from the Royal Academy of Dance and Dance-Ed and did mu honours in Hip-hop at the Association of International Dance Teachers.

Besides being a passionate dancer himself, dancing at the "Namibian Annual Music Award 2019", "Well Wish ya' by Philippe Talavera, "Aivilo" by Sven-Eric Muller, " Cinderella & Her Prince" by Robin van Wvk to name a few,  Daniel loves teaching.

He specialises in urban and lyrical hip-hop, which he will be teaching at this year's Dance Week.


Tina Fraser


Tina has been involved in Theater, Sing and Dance for many years. She danced with S.A.D.T.A ( South African Teachers Association) and also with A.I.D.T ( Association of International Dance Teachers). She was the director and founder for " Global Dance Conventions" in South Africa and also the Johannesburg coordinator for " Dancers love Dogs".

I have now found my 'niche' in Swakopmund, having moved here four years ago and I have opened up a voice training school called "Strawberry Fields", where I can share my joy in singing.

We are beyond excited to be able to introduce SONG into the mix of Dance Week.


Alex Mogaviri 


A Zimbabwean Hip Hop instructor and Lead choreographer at Beat Revolution Hip Hop Dance Studio in Windhoek teaching a range of the different  styles in Hip Hop Dance.  Alex began Hip Hop dancing in Paris, France in 2009 where he was a junior member of a team of dancers at the British School of Paris. For the next couple of years, He received most of his Hip Hop training at open studio workshops around Paris from visiting international Choreographers from the likes of Brian Puspos and Jun Quemado where he developed a love for Hip Hop dancing.

From 2012, Alex began teaching Hip Hop classes in Zimbabwe through work shops and continued to further his training under various Hip Hop associations such as Zim's Finest Dance Group, ZINA, and 8-Count Dance Company.

In 2013 Alex started teaching workshops/  classes at the University of Namibia  and  Fusion Funk Dance Studio. In mid-2014, Alex Co-founded the Beat Revolution Hip Hop Dance Studio aimed at Hip Hop competitiveness, furthering a student's potential in Hip Hop dance and exploring the many types and styles within the art.

Alex has competed with his team in various competitions over the past two years, with their most recent triumph in Rustenburg, South Africa, attaining Gold medals in their Hip Hop category at the South African Championships of Performing Arts 2016.
